WASHINGTON, June 23, 2025 – The United States Footwear Manufacturers Association is pleased to welcome as its newest member Weinbrenner Shoe Company, Inc., makers of Thorogood Brand work boots, as the company doubles down on its century-plus legacy of producing shoes in America.
USFMA is also pleased to announce that Weinbrenner’s Vice President of Finance, Teri Boers, is joining the association’s Board of Directors.
“Weinbrenner is a premier footwear producer with deep roots in American manufacturing,” said USFMA Executive Director Bill McCann. “It is expanding its domestic supplier base, reducing its dependence on foreign imports, and demonstrating real leadership in onshoring more production and creating skilled jobs here at home.”

The employee-owned company founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has been making shoes since 1892. It currently manufactures most of its products in the United States, relying on a combination of American and globally sourced materials.
Weinbrenner employs approximately 400 people with plans to grow its workforce. It recently broke ground on a new $14.5 million, 70,000-square foot facility in Marshfield, Wisconsin, that is set to begin operations later this year.
“We are fully committed to expanding American manufacturing,” said Boers. “Even before the recent tariffs, we were shrinking our import dependencies, increasing our reliance on domestic suppliers, and making manufacturing more profitable through automation and other innovations. We want to ensure we have the capacity and the skills to fully produce shoes in the United States.”
“Exactly what we need to achieve our goals,” she added, “are new partnerships and collaboration with other companies that are trying to do the same thing. USFMA is a great fit for us.”
