For over 133 years, Thorogood has stood for more than just boots. We’ve stood for the American worker. For union pride. For craftsmanship that’s built to last. And now, we’re proud to show the progress of our new manufacturing facility in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
This project is more than a building; it symbolizes growth, unity, and our unwavering commitment to making high-quality footwear right here in the USA.
A Powerful Partnership
When Dean Miller from IBEW 388 received a personal invitation to the groundbreaking from Jeff Burns, president of Weinbrenner Shoe Company, it was a moment of pride and humility. In over 15 years as a business manager for IBEW Local 388, it was his first time being personally invited to such a milestone. That gesture spoke volumes about our shared values of respect, collaboration, and trust.
From the start, this project was rooted in partnership. We chose to work with Newton Electric, IBEW Local 388, and NECA not only because of their skill but also because of their values. We were firm in our belief that this work needed to be union-built. Because price isn’t everything—value is. And the value of union labor, of skilled tradespeople working together with pride and purpose, is immeasurable.
Built for Efficiency, Designed for the Future
Our current building in Marshfield was built in 1936. Back then, buildings were designed with multiple floors and segmented workflows. Today, we’re building with efficiency in mind. Streamlining production, improving collaboration, and creating a space that reflects the innovation and quality our boots are known for.
Of course, no project comes without challenges. From muddy ground conditions to sourcing specialized equipment, this build faced obstacles head-on. But with union labor powering every step, we overcame them together.
Full Circle Moments
For many of the tradespeople working on this project, Thorogood boots have been a part of their lives for decades. Journeymen wiremen who wore our boots in the field are now wiring the very facility where those boots will be made. It’s a full-circle moment that speaks to the heart of our brand: we build boots for the people who build America.
Committed to Craftsmanship, Committed to America
We’ve been here since 1892. And we’re not going anywhere.
We are proudly committed to American manufacturing. To union labor. To the blue-collar professionals who rely on our boots every day. This new facility is a promise to them—and to future generations—that Thorogood will continue to build with integrity, purpose, and pride.
Because when you bet on the American worker, you win. And we’ve been placing that bet for 133 years.
Looking Ahead
As we move toward completion in early 2026, we’re excited for what’s ahead. This facility will not only increase our capacity but also strengthen our legacy. It will allow us to continue delivering the best boots we can possibly build, made by the hands of those who know hard work best.
To everyone who’s been part of this journey—thank you. We’re proud to walk this path with you.
